Systems Integration

Some introduction copy regarding Systems Integration is needed to maintain consistency across the site

Data can be imported using highly configurable flat file and XML-based importing facilities. These facilities are generic. Thus literally any data (not just FACE data) may be imported from other databases or spreadsheets for analysis using the outcomes reporting suite.

Data can similarly be easily exported in flat file or XML formats. There are also advanced specialist facilities for export into statistical packages SPSS for more complex statistical exploration. Export facilities include an anonymous export option – preventing the identification of individuals; use of default or user-defined variable names; and automatic re-labelling of variables for direct import into Excel or SPSS.

More generally, FACE publishes a standard interface to enable data to be exchanged between electronic systems or imported into the FACE Outcomes reporting software; and which also enables integration of mobile data collection systems (such as digital pens or digimemos) with back office systems. This standard interface is referred to as ‘XPD’ (standing for eXtensible Person Description) and is auto-generated for any dataset by our Electronic Library software.
